Build a new deal for workers
Contributors: Laurel Mikalouski and Reggie Romain

As work becomes less predictable, companies can no longer rely as heavily on job security and linear career progression to sustain their relationship with employees. Employability is becoming a more important part of the bargain: helping people build skills and experience that remain valuable as roles evolve, while giving companies a workforce better able to adapt as business needs change. Our research shows that leaders should prioritize three actions to help build this new deal for workers.

Companies have moved quickly to put generative AI in employees’ hands, but usage alone says little about whether the technology is improving work. Our research suggests that value depends on six human capacities that shape how people regulate their attention and judgment while working with AI. Leaders should identify how those capacities show up across their teams, then design adoption efforts that help people get the most out of the technology.

Enterprise performance management needs a reset
Why companies require an integrated system to see the full picture
Authors: Jens Laue, Michela Coppola and Dominique Lewis
Published: July 2026
Most companies today are making decisions with an incomplete view of performance. Issues once treated as peripheral, from water availability and supply chain resilience to workforce practices, now affect costs, capital, risk and execution. To see the entire business clearly before they act, leaders need to build integrated enterprise performance management (EPM) systems that bring sustainability-related performance into the same view as financial and operational performance.

How public-safety leaders can build trust in AI agents
Move from framework to infrastructure, govern behavior, monitor in real time and make decisions explainable
Contributors: James Slessor, Daniel Tang, Patrick Connolly
Published: April 2026
AI agents are poised to enter public-safety operations. Yet without new approaches to control, visibility and accountability, agents risk undermining the trust needed for them to be used effectively. Public safety leaders should prioritize four actions to deploy agents in ways that earn and sustain public trust.

AI can help Europe close its productivity shortfall
But only if barriers to adoption for small and medium-sized enterprises are tackled
Contributors: Lie Junius, Dominic King, Dominique Lewis
Published: April 2026
AI has the potential to revitalize European growth prospects. However, broad productivity gains will remain elusive unless small and medium-sized enterprises—which form the backbone of Europe’s economy— integrate the technology into core business processes. To close Europe’s competitiveness gap, public and private actors must mitigate the risk, relevance and talent barriers restricting SMEs’ adoption of AI.

The reinvention of research in the age of generative and agentic AI
How Accenture Research uses Google Cloud to transform the way it produces insights
Authors: Philippe Roussiere and Vincenzo Palerm
Published: June 2024
Beginning in 2023, Accenture Research rebuilt its research model around generative and agentic AI, creating a human-led system that can test more hypotheses, synthesize more evidence and respond faster to shifting markets. Working with Google Cloud, researchers and editors at Accenture Research used AI to broaden their insights and dedicate more time to critical thinking, strategy and interpretation. As their experience shows, AI delivers the greatest value when companies redesign knowledge work around it and build governance into the model from the start.
